And that is that Enterprise 2.0 will happen in your organization entirely by itself, whether you encourage it, discourage it, or even consign it to benign neglect. Euan actually laid out three strategies in semi-tongue cheek form likely meant as a shot across the bow of complacent IT departments; whether you get out of the way, actively encourage it, or do absolutely nothing, Enterprise 2.0 platforms like blogs, wikis, and related social, emergent, freeform Web 2.0-style apps are coming to your company, and in fact are almost certainly there already.

<!--

Video is one of the most desirable things to incorporate into ones site and many who see more traffic and increased hits at their sites know they owe it, in large part, to the new video content they have added. What has been seen, in terms of the magnitude of video that prevails on the internet, has been precipitated not only by the ease of getting a video available for the net, but by all the new systems that are around to support those scripts or handle your uploads and give you a packaged site look.. They are everywhere.

I think that right now we are at the forefront of a new level of video support that will be clearly marked by increased ease of use. There has been the emergence of .tv domains, a hard to ignore indicator of how quickly sites are showing up with video offerings. From Brightcove Studio at http://studio.brightcove.com/index.cfm I see a most impressive jump in methods for the retailing of ones videos and for packaging video content and delivering video in the manner that is sure to become the most commonplace. Video on demand is at the threshold of an explosive growth.

Think "Brightcove" and get yourself in on a fast growing world. Be somebody in the world of video. We've all got our chance now. Brightcove has extremely detailed written instructions. It's a system very dedicated to making sure you can't get it wrong. Trying to make sure you have the highest quality experience!
<!--

Inserit at www.inserit.com is a provider of a content management system that leverages the strengths of Dreamweaver, to supplement the ease of use capabilities that exist throughout its system. If your opting for a content management system, Inserit might be the one for you. It's ready to take on your muli-lingual needs and provide a foundation for your international marketing efforts. I think it comes as prepared and capable as any existing web based system available. I tend to expect as much from the most recent of offerings and they do not disappoint.

Another fine offering and a perfect compliment to the Content Management Systems ( Inserit appears to be to new to be included as of yet) is Userplane at www.userplane.com. They seem to have a strong conviction to take care of your communication needs and they're geared to do that in every way that you can imagine and then some. They likely represent improvement on traditional forms of web communication, but the obvious appeal of this mix and match kind of communication product, is the ability to integrate it with many of the new and compelling content sources that are available.
<!--

Nevertheless, what you might hear me say to any person who was just familiarizing themselves with the internet for the very first time, would be a heartfelt suggestion to relax and NOT fret their novice status.

What the internet and its designers are doing is creating a simplicity for maneuvering about the internet, plain and simple. With each passing day that goes by, the learning curve by which somebody can effectively make use of the internet, surf about and gain useful information and resources to enrich their lives is shrinking.

Think about the power of an increasingly meaningful experience with each passing day and that's pretty exciting stuff in its own right, but equally or even more fascinating to some such as myself, is the potential to understand these new technologies or simply implement them and eventually be able to make a presentation of various forms of media, that looks as impressive as the next guys and allows you to deliver fascinating functionality and resources to your own visitors.

The learning curve to share or employ powerful media has been shortened dramatically. Website development has taken quantum leaps forward. Manipulation is the word that best describes what these new technologies have made possible. Knowing how to program web applications with these different technologies is a worthy undertaking for the true programmer and coding fanatic. Even now I can imagine the satisfaction not to mention the untold rewards they reap because of their skills. With greater and greater frequency these geniuses roll-out sites that allow you and I to enjoy the increasingly easy task of manipulation.

The technologies that are coming to light and that are fresh in my mind are, REST (Representational State Transfer) which is an architecture not a standard and some new implementations of Javascript, those being AJAX (Asynchronous Javascript and XML) and JSON (Javascript Object Notation. These seem to be the foundation or core technologies which allow developers to give us new flexibility and powers of manipulation. XML (Extensible Markup Language) and RSS (Rich Site Summary) an XML format and XHTML (Extensible Hypertext Markup Language) are all well known and moving ahead at breakneck speed to widespread usage and seem to be inexorably connected to the future of the web. XHTML must be considered in connection with such technologies as CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and DOM (Document Object Model).

Of all the things mentioned, it appears that AJAX, REST and JSON are the newcomers that will add further simplification to possibilities that XML only recently brought to the table. We've made new leaps and the XML phenmomenon still hasn't even finished its debut and fulfilled all its promise. Having mentioned these particular technologies is not to suggest that I've named all that is new and forthcoming, nor do I understand all the interdependencies or relationships these technologies might share with each other or whether some of them are in direct competition. What does seem apparent is that the simplifying effect is in full swing and that one way or another it will get a lot easier for us to manipulate an impressive web presence of our own, once we make up our minds to do so.

Time to put those search engines to work and to dive into these new terms and technologies. I wouldn't want to leave you without a wonderful link that touches on all of the technologies I mentioned and quite a few others I didn't. I hope it proves quite useful as a quick reference. You could skip the search engines and still get a nice overview of what has been mentioned in this article by visiting...

http://www.informit.com/guides/guide.asp?g=xml&rl=1
<!--

Community built websites can provide lots of content for you. Oh, you didn't realize you could easily host your own community? Well, that's turning into a possibility that new website owners and novice programmers can build into a website fairly easy. With new website and web-hosted capabilities, an individual might put up some of their content under your domain and advertising format. You and that community member or any of your members might easily share a little bit of advertising revenue amongst yourselves.

Realistically, any one who has a website can get it up to you in a RSS feed and you have the option of transforming the incoming feeds into separate and complete web pages, right down to an article by article basis.

RSS means a great opportunity for a website owner to have timely and current content and a sub-domained communities content. Every member can share access to personally suitable content and the automatic update of their selected sources.

Put off by the idea of your own domain community and want to do it all yourself, I mean provide manually selected articles, what you want and when you want? Want to have all that ad generation working for you and you alone? You could go that way if you desire. It doesn't have to be any one way and the variation of methods has simply gotten easier to implement.

You can find free article submission sites or be more risk taking and adventurous and even pay authors for their content. I like finding any kind of visually appealing material that exists in combination with helpful information. I kind of plug along looking for that sort of thing. The most thrilling part of having a presence on the internet(for me) is the opportunity to reach a lot of eyes and maybe enjoy a little bit of an artistic expression as well.

If you want to experiment with article submission, I like this one site for which I will provide a link. It appears to have plenty of articles, on many subjects and it allows you to have each one of them on your site in full page splendor, to add your adsense to as you see fit.

Because I've spoken of a few different things, not the least of which is RSS, I will leave some links to help with the use of that and some of the other ideas I may have mentioned.

http://www.feedforall.com/index.htm

http://searchenginewatch.com/showPage.html?page=2155721

http://www.mamboserver.com/

Extreme RSS Content

Web management aid

Topic specific web pages
<!--

ANYwebcam is very much alive and boasts a community of over 3 million.

On top of that, I re-discovered the personable nature of their top people, having text messaged the owner a few times as a result of my mistake. That's one mistake I'm kind of glad I made.

ANY-WAY, I'll give you the first name of the owner, it's David and you can read more about ANYwebcam at his own blog. I'll have the link for David's blog and the ANYwebcam site following the article.

It's interesting, relative to the timing of my first mention of ANYwebcam, that they just happen to be launching a new widget, to be used on the social networking sites.

It may very well be the first instance of a LIVE broadcast widget. In my rather lengthy look back at internet developments, it seems that not much new in the way of social capabilities really exists. People appear to simply want to 'see' things differently. I believe the internet is a haven for the artist and seeks change on that level as opposed to achieving any real improvement in socializing ability.

Internet innovation continues to come from new and independent sources. Big players like Yahoo, MSN, Google and a few other notables have great stuff, but I've noticed they continually feel threatened by the new developments. They respond quickly with an answer of their own or purchase one. For several years now, I have felt that those giants had some mighty powerful social tools. They've allowed people to meet and make new friends and to be able to do so along compatible interests. Along comes MySpace and the blogging concept and for that reason, Yahoo suddenly had to have its 360 answer and MSN and other players had to make adaptive moves as well.

What I notice about this latest change is that it allows a person to have a much larger mix of all the types of sound and visualization toys we like, in a primary page, a single page presentation. The tools that have allowed people to speak, view, and chat with each other change very little, only being different in the variations or combinations of these things. You'll still have to click around a bit to take advantage of all that a single site has to offer.

I want to recognize a couple of sites that really gave us a nice experience with video, long before YouTube appeared to be the only site providing video abilities. I thought Camarades, Webcamnow and Pluscams were really pioneers in giving us superb video broadcast possibilities. I know many internet socialites really like the video tools they are playing with today, but they've been here for quite a while. Camarades and Webcamnow are still around and can be found by typing in their URL with the follow-up com domain. Pluscams I've recently typed in and to tell you the truth, I'm not to certain at this time about their status. I want to mention a couple other video sites that are no longer with us (a fact I bemoan) or perhaps they have just taken on a new manifestation. Those sites are CitizenX and Anywebcam and they get my honorable mention. If I could, I would commend the designers or innovators of those sites, because what they developed was rather nice and inspirational.

ICQ as a messaging platform continues to flourish and probably has been blended more repeatedly or more often with other applications than any other program around. ICQ and other popular messaging programs have been here for some time and most have had video as part of the their offerings for quite a while now. Who should forget Netmeeting? That was the program that I most remember as I began my internet surfing. It always made me excited about what was to come.

I guess my point is that it has ALL been here for a while. Thanks to those sites I've mentioned and their developers, because they were and in some cases remain outstanding pioneers. Some time ago they gave us good examples of what is about to become a lot more commonplace!
<!--

You need to find the method to package it and give it a viable form. 'Just do it' is an expression that led to one of the most successful ad campaigns of all time and has certainly contributed to increased sales for Nike.

Who doesn't recognize or know Nike better than ever, thanks to that famous slogan. It takes its form in media of all kinds, allowing the popular Nike corporation to generate those higher unit/volume sales they aspire to, but most significant is that the slogan itself becomes one of the best sources of revenue, in and of itself, for Nike.

There are plenty of people who recognize the value of putting interesting or better yet amazing words in product form. They realize they make nice income with their ideas.

Cafepress recognizes the value of a slogan and in fact recognizes many other forms of intellectual expression. As usual, the internet is a haven for new business models. Cafepress combines processes, getting your thoughts on products, then making it relatively simple and painless to have a web store presence and therefore your own retail existence.
Inventory, shipping and purchasing processes are handled at their end and as you can readily can appreciate, this means quick and easy deployment of your favorite expressions with practically no effort on your part.

Check out Cafepress and give your best intellectual property a presence on the net.

http://www.cafepress.com
<!--

If not, you are not alone. This is a relatively obscure term if you are not familiar with technology. VOIP stands for "voice over Internet Protocol." And again if you do not know much about the internet or technology this may not mean much to you. Simply put, VOIP is nothing more than the ability to transmit voice traffic over an IP network. So more or less you will be using your internet connection as a way to make phone calls. Does that make more sense?
There is one main reason why VOIP has become so popular from one end of the world to the next. This being the fact that you can save a lot of money by using a VOIP service instead of your land based telephone or cell phone. Generally speaking, most people pay a monthly rate to use the land based phone line that is in their home. And to add onto this they also have to pay a per minute rate for each long distance call that they make. This may not seem like that big of a deal if you do not make a lot of long distance calls, but if you do you know just how expensive this habit can be. In the past there was really no alternative to paying this rate. You may have been able to buy a long distance plan, but again they can be very costly.
Enter VOIP technology. With VOIP technology you can place phone calls over your internet connection instead of having to use your land based line. And the best part of the VOIP is that you will only have to pay a flat fee. By paying that fee you have the ability to make calls to anybody in the world without ever having to pay any additional charges. This can save companies and individuals hundreds or maybe even thousands of dollars over the course of a year.
If you are interested in making VOIP calls there are three ways that you can get connected to do so. You can use a phone that is designed for VOIP use, a standard telephone with the addition of a VOIP adapter, or a computer that has a microphone and speaker setup. The choice of which option you use is up to you. We author, I'm speaking about being able to put down our own thoughts and observations on this internet, we deliver our own streams or files of video and audio and put up our favorite photos. Those tools, the video and audio are able to be delivered with an increasing degree of ease and with an ever growing quality. Yesterday, I added a new link that pertains to video. It highlights the latest capability for delivering or storing video in smaller, more flexible files and seemingly without degradation of the picture quality. One of the acronyms that symbolizes a particular vendors strength of marketing involves CPE or customer premise equipment. If a vendor has lots of their branded name in your house, that's the mark of great success.

Based on the reality of our fast changing world and where more and more equipment is likely to end up, I propose CBE (Customer Body Equipment). There may be an acronym that takes this into account already, but if not I think CBE sounds entirely appropriate. If you will note, it usually gets quite expensive to get on an IP network, when you do so through the cellular guys. They give you a limited number of messages or a limited amount of data exchange and if you exceed that, charges can go up quite quickly. The typical fee you are charged isn't exactly all that impressive.

You are going to see the telcos using Wi-Max in the future. That's probably going to be a likely scenario, but don't expect them to offer the Wi-Max the way we should be receiving it. It should be CHEAP. They will need it to complete many of their networks, but don't expect them to pass on their savings. Again, I think you must get away from telcos for cost savings or cheaper offerings.

If you get under some of these new city wide Wi-Fi umbrellas, in some cases you're going to be able to get the Wi-Fi service FREE. Google has enabled one of those free Wi-Fi networks I'm dreaming of, with more to come. Their revenue model will be built on their advertising strength. They'll get dollars from you if they motivate or generate sales from you in their area of expertise, but you will not be paying for Wi-Fi directly. Quite interesting, don't you think? Some of the pay for Wi-Fi city wide systems, like the kind Earthlink has provided, seem to be offered at a very reasonable starting price.

So, you're only one real ingredient away from taking advantage of these wireless IP systems and Wi-Fi. You're about to get salvation from the phone companies and be able to make your calls for next to nothing, if you focus on Wi-Fi and then begin to look in the direction of Skype. Skype may not be the only option, but they are interesting to say the least and have inspired many business partners to use their service to make some independent and unique service offerings.

What keeps you connected now and provides an uninterrupted phone call, deals with multi-band, multi-mode chips in your phone and roaming agreements between phone companies.

Coverage developments which will make this dream a reality aren't fully inplemented just yet, but changes come quickly for Wi-Max and Wi-Fi. One possibility has developed that could represent a quantum leap towards full coverage. This one form of nationwide blanket coverage may be able to be employed more rapidly than any one might have imagined. You'll find information about that technology at the globetel link at the bottom of this article.

Here's my links to some articles that may better echo my ideas or express a similar idea with a bit more clarity. :-)

http://news.com.com/Service+lets+Skype+users+chat+on+cell+phones/2100-7352_3-6036663.html?tag=news

http://www.globetel.net/index.html

http://gigaom.com/2006/07/20/voice-now-nearly-free
<!--

It's pretty apparent that the changes mean big things for Wi-Fi.

I'm fairly new to my understanding of Wi-Fi, but it looks to me like the city wide Wi-Fi deployments mean that you can expect Wi-Fi and Wi-Max technologies to both be a part of city wide networks. Additionally, I'm of the belief that Muni-Wi-Fi is a term or technology name that correctly implies the combination of those 2 technologies in such a network. Mesh networks which are a fundamental method for deploying such city wide networks also make use of both Wi-Fi and Wi-Max in these rollouts.

http://www.wimax.com/commentary/news/wimax_industry_news/news7-07-2006mw1

http://news.com.com/AT38T+teams+with+startup+in+citywide+Wi-Fi+bid/2100-1037_3-6096822.html
<!--

My focus will most likely go toward the wireless evolution under way, but anything that clearly represents internet technology and looks like an important development could be targeted for commentary and coverage. I'd certainly like feedback on my comments and I'd really appreciate any commentary that exposes or brings attention to internet technology that I potentially ignore. Let's combine the power of multiple insights to demonstrate the capabilities of the internet and to show how quickly it evolves.

I may occasionally drift off topic to acknowledge something important such as the current war in the Middle East, that's one example. If I make those kind of comments, I welcome response to those remarks as well.
<!--
